BEAUTY OF THE UPSIDE DOWN WORLD
March 2020
These photos were taken in mid March 2020 a few days after the lockdown measures have been imposed upon us as result of the looming Covid 19 pandemic. I've just been furloughed from my job at the Day Care Centre and all my upcoming Arts Projects has been put on hold too. It was an early evening and I was walking my dog along the Union Canal, Edinburgh, near where I live. My head was buzzing with thoughts trying to absorb and process the events quickly developing all around the world. I was walking along the deserted path which is normally overrun by cyclists and people returning home from work. But this time there was hardly anyone and those few people I passed walked in a wide circle around with fear in their eyes. There was a strange feeling of suspension and apprehension from what is about to come hanging in the air. Yet, this suspension also created this overwhelming feeling of calmness and stillness, just like the serene reflection of the trees and buildings on the water which was about to be destroyed by the rain from the loom dark clouds. Our world as we know it was about to be turned upside down and I felt and cherished the beauty of the moment. The calm before the storm. The beauty of the upside world...
